Reflection Paper Guidelines
Part I.

Describe what happened in chronological order during the
semester. What did you do? If you taught a lab, describe how
many students were in the lab and when the lab met. If you did an
independent project, describe how you thought about it, what plan you and
your advisor came up with, and what you did throughout the semester (include
any relevant photocopies of learning contracts).
Part II.

Explain your expectations at the beginning of the semester.
What did you think the semester would be like? What were you most
concerned about? What were you least concerned about?

Explain what happened regarding your expectations.
Did things turn out the way you expected?

Describe any unforeseen problems or situations that arose
during the semester. What happened? How did you deal with them?

If you taught a lab, describe what improvements you could
suggest for the next time the lab is taught. If you did an independent
study or special problem, describe what could have been done to improve
your experience.

Your finished reflection paper should be between five and
10 pages long. Please double space the entire paper.
