| On the left of this image is the new Blodgett factory, owned and occupied by G.S. Blodgett & Company. Established in 1848 and incorporated in 1892, the Blodgett company manufactured and distributed ovens. The company moved from Maple Street in 1945 after completion of this factory building. In the distance, is the former Queen City Cotton Corporation/Company factory, occupied at this time by Bell Aircraft Corporation. (more information: Lakeside & Central Avenue).
Taken on the same day as the Lakeside Avenue - West of Conger image, this picture also shows the road before the temporary wearing surface had been applied for the winter. On the left, the tractor and harrow are mixing the base while, to the right, the asphalt distributor applies emulsion.[18] [18] (author unknown), Photo Caption, Louis L. McAllister | The Blodgett factory today looks much the same as it did in 1945. It has a moderate sized addition for truck deliveries and continues to house the Blodgett Oven Company. The Queen City Cotton Corporation factory building today holds a number of businesses and offices. |
