Not many know the strange and twisted tale from which the Hit Paws of UVM emerged.

'Twas a dark and stormy night,
A group of students clung with fright.
Stuck on the off-campus shuttle
the wind grew high and they did huddle

They did not know that it was in fact
The winds of destiny starting to act.
For they could not see the light ahead
They only wished they were in their warm, comfy beds.

"Did Christopher Columbus fear the waters of the Atlantic?
No, he retained his composure and did not become frantic."
The man who spoke was not from the ghetto,
He was the man of legend: big bad Greg Swanko!

The group bound together in a ball all as one
Swanko said "Fear not death, we can still have some fun!"
He began to sing a lofty tune of merryment
and to this melody they did consent.

They sang through the cold and blistering rain,
Of driving, of criminals, of times without pain.
Together they survived nature's cruel laws
And banded together as the UVM Hit Paws!
