Green Mountain Rowing Rules & Regulations

 

 

Club Rules:

v     All club members wishing to use club equipment or benefit from club affiliation must pay a yearly membership fee to the Treasurer, due each spring. This may include a surcharge for the use of club boats.

v     All active club members must be able to swim.

v     Members and guests must read and follow the club rules and regulations and sign the GMR Waiver.
(Copies may be found on the bulletin board.)

 

Boathouse Rules:

v     Open season for the Thom boathouse is May 1-October 31. Dates outside this time period must be individually arranged with Mr. Thom.

v     Rack fees must be paid to Mr Thom each year by May 15 or the rack space may be given away.

v     Shells should be removed by October 31.

v     Winter storage is available but must be arranged with Mr Thom and paid for prior to October 31.

v     Club members are responsible for the expense of replacing lost keys.

v     Please park inside the fence either facing the road or facing south by the trees. If UVM is out and the area is crowded, it is OK to park on the lawn facing the house.

v     Using Mr Thom’s tools (particularly power tools) is not permitted without his permission.

v     Enter the boathouse through the door and use the wall switch to open the garage door. Leave the garage door open while rowing.

v     Sign in and out on the sheet posted in the boathouse.

v     If rowing in early am or late pm, it is permissible to leave the boathouse lights on while rowing.

v     Bow lights must be used if rowing prior to sunrise or more than 30 minutes past sundown.

v     Look both ways before crossing the road. Cars have a tendency to speed on this stretch of road.

v     Close all doors, turn off lights, and lock before leaving unless someone else is on the water.

 

Dock and River Rules:

v     Traffic pattern: keep primarily to the starboard bank both going downriver and returning to the dock.

v     Keep to starboard if being overtaken.

v     Be watchful for other boat traffic, especially at bends in the river.

v      Leave your shoes out of the way of other rowers on the dock.
