Founded by Music Director Michael Hopkins in 2007 with a group of twenty musicians, the BCO’s mission is to advance the classical arts and culture in the city of Burlington and surrounding communities. The orchestra members are talented Vermont professionals who are also responsible for the music education of hundreds of students in the state. The Lane Series is delighted to introduce this marvelous group to our audience.
Cello soloist for the concert is Sergey Antonov, who has appeared with the Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Budapest Philharmonic Orchestras, among others. In June 2007, Antonov won the prestigious Gold Medal at the XIII International Tchaikovsky Competition, one of the youngest cellists ever to win the prize.
