Here are two lists. The first is a roll call of the most important Latin authors whom you should know something about by heart. You should memorize the dates of the authors in boldface (think Probatio questions here); the second is a shorter list, appropriate for this year's theme, of scientific writers from antiquity (both Greek and Roman).
