Join us at the Center for Cultural Pluralism,
Allen House, 3rd floor (corner of Main and S. Prospect Streets)
All groups include meditation instruction, practice and discussion.
Weekly Mindfulness Meditation Groups are free and open to students, staff, faculty and the community. Mindfulness-Based Workshops are for UVM students only.

  • As always, beginners are welcome, and meditation instruction will be provided. The group includes silent and/or guided sitting meditation and group sharing/discussion. Occasionally, other mindfulness practices, such as walking meditation and lovingkindness meditation, will be included.
  • The meditation room at the Allen House is usually available during weekday hours. All are welcome to use the space. We ask that you return cushions and other supplies neatly to the alcove.

    Mindful Living

    Spring 2009:

    Mondays: 3:30 - 5:00



    Each session runs for 7 weeks plus a 1/2-day retreat on TBA

    The Mindful Living group is a workshop designed to address anxiety and stress by teaching participants how to become more mindful, i.e. nonjudgementally aware of the present moment.Using a variety of approaches, including sitting and walking meditation, body scan, yoga, and others, participants cultivate the ability to let go of stressful thought patterns and to experience more moments of peace and well being in their lives.

    Healing Depression with Mindfulness

    Spring 2009:

    Schedule Wednesdays 3:00 - 5:00

    Group runs for 8 weeks plus a 1/2 day retreat on TBA.

    Pre-registration is required. Call 656-3340.

    This group is intended for students who have struggled with depression in their lives. Participants will learn and practice a variety of methods to help them become more mindful, i.e. nonjudgementally aware of the present moment. As the capacity for mindfulness is cultivated, participants will then learn to identify and work with thought patterns that have spiraled into depression in the past, and develop strategies to prevent future relapses. This group is appropriate for students with a history of depression, or who are currently experiencing mild depression.
