I-Team

I-Team at CDCI

The Vermont State I-Team was developed with a federal demonstration grant from 1974 to 1977. The I-Team has been continuously funded through the Vermont Department of Education since 1977. Beginning in September 2006, the I-Team has initiated a fee for service program to supplement the state's funding due to rising costs and limited resources.

The I-Team has five regional offices coordinated through the Center on Disability and Community Inclusion/UCEDD, at the University of Vermont. Each region has a Regional Educational Consultant who at a minimum has a Masters Degree and demonstrated skill and experience in educating students with intensive special education needs. Each region also has a Family Resources Consultant who is a parent of a child with intensive educational needs. In addition, UCEDD faculty serve as statewide interdisciplinary consultants.

The I-Team mission is to assist local IEP teams of families, educators, and other service providers in the delivery of quality educational services to students with intensive special education needs through technical assistance, professional development, training, support for systems change and family support.
