Our work is concerned with porous solids of all types. We are interested in studying the relationships between the physical properties of these solids (primarily porosity and morphology) as they relate to specific applications in filtration, catalysis, and molecular adsorption/release. Group members use a wide variety of characterization techniques including powder X-ray diffraction, nitrogen physisorption, electron microscopy, optical microscopy, and solid state nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry to study porous solids. They also collaborate extensively with industrial and medical researchers on applications of our materials.
