LECTURE:
The single most important thing to do
in preparing to speak: Practice in front
of others and get feedback!
Tips from TAs:
- Objective: You should say "After my presentation you will DO
.......". Saying "Today I'm
going to talk to you about....."
is NOT an objective!
- FOLLOW
THE CRITIQUE SHEETS!
- To reduce filler words, go slowly,
and practice - have your
friends COUNT your filler words.
- Cite anything that is not common
knowledge (check your facts).
- Check your the speech date and lab
roles link on syllabus
- Pause for EFFECT should
be appropriate, not just anywhere.
- If you
use the projector - go to
the lab room a few days
ahead and practice! It
is your responsibility to
know the computer
and projector equipment
and to set up ahead - it
is not the responsibility
of the TAs.
- Boost the
Passion!
