LECTURE:

The single most important thing to do in preparing to speak: Practice in front of others and get feedback!

Tips from TAs:
  1. Objective: You should say "After my presentation you will DO .......".  Saying "Today I'm going to talk to you about....." is NOT an objective!
  2. FOLLOW THE CRITIQUE SHEETS!
  3. To reduce filler words, go slowly, and practice - have your friends COUNT your filler words.
  4. Cite anything that is not common knowledge (check your facts).
  5. Check your the speech date and lab roles link on syllabus
  6. Pause for EFFECT should be appropriate, not just anywhere.
  7. If you use the projector - go to the lab room a few days ahead and practice!  It is your responsibility to know the computer and projector equipment and to set up ahead - it is not the responsibility of the TAs.
  8. Boost the Passion!
Group Critical Analysis Presentation review.
IN LAB:
-Get the contact information (phone #, email) of all your group members
-Decide on a controversial topic
-Find TWO ARTICLES - one for, one against
-Decide who will be moderator
-Decide who will do the analysis for each article
-Decide when your group will meet to practice
