LECTURE:

The single most important thing to do in preparing to speak: Practice in front of others and get feedback!

Tips from TAs:
  1. Hooks - at the beginning of any presentation, you need to get the attention of the audience.
  2. Objective: You should say "After my presentation you will know .......".  Saying "Today I'm going to talk to you about....." is NOT an objective!
  3. FOLLOW THE CRITIQUE SHEETS!
  4. Repeat any questions asked at the end.
  5. Check your the speech date and lab roles link on syllabus
  6. Pause for EFFECT.
  7. Take your hat off!  No hats, no gum chewing.
  8. If you use the projector - go to the lab room a few days ahead and practice!  It is your responsibility to know the computer and projector equipment and to set up ahead - it is not the responsibility of the TAs.
