To use an existing text box as a template:

• Click the border of the template's box.
• Edit | Duplicate.

To create a text box from scratch:

• Insert | Text Box.
• Drag the pointer to make a box. (The box will shrink to a small window when you release the mouse button, but will expand as you type).

Autoshapes as text boxes:

• Click the shape to select it.
• The words appear in the center of the shape.
