INTRODUCTION

The purpose of the College of Medicine Bioinformatics Facility (formerly the Biometry Facility) is to develop and maintain a comprehensive coordinated program of bioinformatics research support covering biostatistics, statistical genetics, and epidemiology for biomedical and health-related research activities.  The following is a brief description of the objectives and capabilities of the Facility.  We would be pleased to assist you in grant proposal preparation if your project anticipates utilizing our services.

The Bioinformatics Facility has been structured to provide support at a number of levels.  The nature, complexity and requirements of each project will determine the extent to which the Facility might be involved.  Many research studies require continuing and close collaboration between the Facility Faculty/Staff and Project Investigators.  Such collaboration is necessary to ensure that all aspects of the study design and data collection procedures are sound, and that the statistical methods used and the interpretation of the statistical analyses are appropriate to the problem under study.
